Locomotion and Devices Control in Quadriplegic
نویسنده
چکیده
The persons who have suffered permanent paralysis of his members develop a dependency that limits his possibilities and his quality of life. Independence in his daily activities improves notably his autoesteem and liberates his family of an additional responsibility. The basic needs are the locomotion, activation of devices as light, television, doors remote control, or communications. The present project intends to identify the basic needs of quadriplegic people and the possible solutions using technology of infrared tracking.

Assistive Technologies for Spinal Cord Injured Individuals: Electromyographic Mobile Accessibility
We present an approach for quadriplegic users to control mobile devices. Although several assistive technologies provide disabled users with computer or wheelchair control, there are still enormous interaction and control gaps to bridge: mobile device control, and subsequent communication capabilities, is one of them. An EMG-based solution is presented as well as the system’s requisites, proble...
متن کاملDynamics and Regulation of Locomotion of a Human Swing Leg as a Double-Pendulum Considering Self-Impact Joint Constraint
Background:Despite some successful dynamic simulation of self-impact double pendulum (SIDP)-as humanoid robots legs or arms- studies, there is limited information available about the control of one leg locomotion. Objective :The main goal of this research is to improve the reliability of the mammalians leg locomotion and building more elaborated models close to the natural movements, by modelin...
متن کاملNew head control for quadriplegic patients.
Our main objective in carrying out this project was to provide the quadriplegic patient, who cannot use his arms, with means of control over his direct environment. Residual head motion was considered to be adequate, first, to control an electric wheelchair and, second, to extend that same control to an orthotic device which may include an active elbow and a prehension orthosis . The latter is ...
متن کاملLocomotor sub-functions for design and control of locomotion
In this study we focus on bio-inspired legged locomotion concepts. A primary goal of comparative biomechanics is to understand the fundamental physics of locomotion within an evolutionary context. Such an understanding of legged locmotion results in a transition from copying nature to borrowing strategies for interacting with the physical world in design and control of bio-inspired legged robot...
متن کاملAssistive Technology - recent items
This case study describes how an individual with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy was trained over a period of four weeks to use a commercial electroencephalography (EEG)-based brain-computer interface (BCI). The participant spent three sessions exploring the system, and seven sessions playing a game focused on EEG feedback training of left and right arm motor imagery and a customised, train...
